What to do before you reach our office
Knocked-Out Tooth
- Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root
- Rinse gently with water if dirty
- Try to reinsert it in the socket
- If not possible, keep it in milk or saliva
- Get to us within 30 minutes
Severe Toothache
- Rinse with warm salt water
- Use dental floss to remove trapped food
- Apply cold compress to outside of cheek
- Take over-the-counter pain medication
- Never put aspirin directly on the tooth
Broken Tooth
- Save any broken pieces
- Rinse mouth with warm water
- Apply gauze if bleeding
- Use cold compress for swelling
- Cover sharp edges with dental wax
Lost Filling/Crown
- Keep the crown or filling if found
- Apply clove oil for pain relief
- Use temporary dental cement from pharmacy
- Avoid chewing on affected side
- See us as soon as possible
